Hi folks, I am FEDOR younger brother of Terminator T101, my
mission is to clean toilets in space station and protect humans from space shit.
If the Russian authorities are to be believed, then that should be the
introduction for the latest humanoid machine developed by Russian scientists at
Advanced Research Foundation (Russian apex Military research agency). As per
them it is designed for going in space and doing various tasks there and/or
future space exploration…
It is a fact that humans have serious limitations while
living in space, like they cannot go out of the space-station or space ship for
more than 9 hours a day, even with suit and everything because of many
radiations, exposure to which can lead to health issues (or they might mutate
like in Fantastic 4 ;-). Secondly human body movements are severely hampered
while during space walks because of the space suit, so performing very simple
tasks like tightening a screw or holding a object in hand are very difficult to
perform. This calls for special tools for all of these and similar activities.
FEDOR will be able to do all these are other precision activities with ease. Russia
plans to send it to space station by year 2021 and the developments are running
as per schedule.
hummmm interesting, then why the hell is it shooting all
around and that too right on the target??
To this question Russian Deputy PM has
answered by his tweets
“Priorities” like who should be killed first and “Instant
Decisions” like bang… dead…mission accomplished??
“We are creating AI, not Terminator” well you are a military
organization with some military scientists working on creating a humanoid which
can shoot with not one but 2 guns simultaneously, that sounds like what…Terminator.
Also the guns it uses are not any special guns designed for robots but it is an
average mouser, which means it can come to your house pick your gun and shoot
you…bammm…it is a Terminator. So have already cleared the terminator, which is
a humanoid with gun as it was in movie also. AI which you are talking about is
already there, which is making this robot shoot. Finally the “decision-making algorithms
are still being improved” part is what you are doing now, which will tell this
robot whom and when to kill.
And yes I don’t deny the fact that a good soldier can always
be useful in space, because aliens tend to come without appointment and this
robot is good at throwing shit…
Technical name for this project is “FEDOR - Final
Experimental Demonstration Object Research” which was initiated by this
organization in 2014. SO in some 3 years time Russians were able to develop
this. I wonder what DARPA, which is the US counterpart of this organization has
developed till now. I believe we will be able to see these machines in action
by 2022. Also, I wonder if Indian authorities and DRDO are doing something in
this regard?
